Walking in the street at night, we see plenty of advertising signs, such as front-lit channel letter, back-lit channel letter, combination-lit channel letter, lighting box, etc. Its shining and colorful light attracts public attention and helps shift potential customers to business location. LED module light is the device used in those signs, due to its versatility, easy installation, low voltage driving, it has been dominating the signage industry since it was created. Nowadays, it’s used for home decorating, accent lighting, undercabinet lighting, etc.
One of the most significant advantage of this LED module is the adoption of exposed aluminum PCB design, unlike other module totally covered by ABS shell, exposed aluminum is much better on heat exchange with the air, which benefits to LED module of longer lifespan and higher efficiency.
Utilizing 9V 0.5watts SMD 2835 LEDs, the higher power LED is, the more light it emits. On the other hand, 3 chips are placed in parallel in this LED, which makes its forward voltage is 9V. Most of modules run at 12Vdc, using 3V LEDs is a waste of energy, because the other 9V is assumed by resistors.
Most of channel letter’s thickness is less than 10cm, to make it bright and uniform, modules was placed very close to each other a few years ago, as it did not have a lens on it. This LED module use specialized optical lens with 160 degrees beam angle, which ensures the module to cover larger area without hot spot, easier for installation and costs less as well.
Same as uniformity, color consistency is another important matters for signs. This LED module only takes 3-step MacAdam color bin chips, tight color control gives all modules the same color, which ensures signs work uniformly and consistently.
